Various types of chemicals have many different effects on our pets. Recent studies in the area have indicated conclusive evidence that pets are subjected to the same chemicals that people are, and that they suffer in much of the same ways that we do. There are many health complications that occur with pets that are considered to be “domestic” and those that live in the wild. Throughout this article, you will learn more about chemicals and their effects on our pets. If you are concerned about the pollutants in our environment affecting your pet, it is important to learn as much as you possibly can regarding this very serious issue.

Pets of all types have different lifespan than that of people. Research has indicated that animals typical develop and age much more quickly than that of people. As a matter of fact, it has been said that they age about seven times more quickly than the average child. Due to this very important fact, it is important to understand that if a pet is exposed to harmful chemicals that the effects of those pollutants will affect them much more quickly than they would the average person. We should take more of a vested interest in this possibility, not just to help our pets, but to analyze what type of health complications that we may experience over time if we are exposed to the same chemicals.

There are many different types of chemicals that pets are exposed to. If our pets are exposed to these substances, then we must understand that more than likely, we are exposed to the same substances. However, our pets will display health symptoms and complications before we will base on the simple fact that they are smaller, they age more quickly, and their systems develop at a higher rate than ours does. In a study that was conducted by researchers, several different chemicals and other substances were introduced to pets. There were about seventy different items offered for exposure. Once the test was concluded, pets tested positive for high contaminants of nearly fifty of the contaminants, whereas individuals showed no response to them at the time of testing.

The health effects of the pollutants on pets was extremely frightening. It was discovered that animals are likely to experience the following health complications if exposed to the pollutants that are in our foods, packaging, water, environment, homes, and more:

•    Damage to the reproductive system

•    Complications that are neurological based

•    Various types of cancers

•    Different types of tumors in the body

•    Bone damage

•    Hormone complications

•    Thyroid disease

•    Complications with the blood

•    Breathing complications, including allergies

There is a lot that we can learn from the animals that we possess or the animals that live in our environment. It is time that we pay attention to the little things and understand that there is always a bigger issue behind them. While it is important that we deal with the pollutants in the environment of our pets, and those animals that are part of our ecological system, we must also understand that these pollutants are part of our environment as well!
