This Independence Day, why not make things a bit greener.  Use this time to work on making your earth a bit cleaner.  With some great tips to help you out, you can have a green celebration.  Here is a look at some great green tips that are easy and cheap to put into practice on this holiday.

Instead of sending out invitations to those invited to your 4th of July celebration, use Evites instead.  It is easy to find online invitations that can be sent via email to those you want to invite to your party.  You can also use invitations that have been recycled, or go with text messages or phone calls to invite everyone.

Another great way you can go green is to encourage your guests to carpool together.  Have several people who live next to each other catch a ride together.  If they live near your home, see if they can walk over to your home.  It’s great for the environment and great exercise as well.

If you think you need to have paper items, like paper plates, at least make sure they are biodegradable or that they are made out of material that has been recycled.  This can be done with napkins, utensils, and cups as well.  If you don’t want to go this route, then purchase things that you can reuse again in the future.

Are you going to have beer or soda at the party?  If so, have a recycle bin so everyone makes sure that they recycle all the cans or plastic bottles.  Put a label on the bins too.  This way people will know which bins to place their trash in.

As you are planning for the celebration for the 4th of July, go with bulk items.  Purchase food in bulk if you can.  This way you can try to avoid using so much packaging.  If there are scraps at the end of your party, it is a good idea to compost these scraps, which is great for the environment.

When you are ready to shop for food items for the celebration, try to go with organic foods, and those that are locally grown are going to be best.  Try to avoid anything that contains preservatives or chemicals and avoid anything that is raised or produced on a factory farm.

A great way that you can decorate is with flowers.  However, instead of going with cut flowers, instead choose some nice live plants.  Then they won’t die.  You can add them to a garden or you can give them out as gifts for your guests if you want to.

While fireworks may look great on the 4th of July, they are not environmentally friendly.  It is a good idea to avoid using them at home, since they are not friendly to the environment and they can also be unsafe.  If you want fireworks, go to a community display instead of doing them at home.
