If you have caught a cold, there are some natural flu and cold treatments that you can use to treat it:

If you are feeling a little bit under the weather, then take some time off from your job, and take a day or two to rest and relax.  Stay in bed, and make sure you are taking either steaming hot showers or baths.  The steam that rises from the water will help to work as a decongestant, and will essentially help you to breathe a little bit better if your are having trouble breathing.

If steam does not work, then try using a neti pot. Neti pots gently wash away excess mucous, bacteria, and viruses from the sinuses.  Simply fill the neti pot with warm filtered water and 1/4 teaspoon of non-iodized salt, insert the tip of the neti pot into one side of your nose, lean forward with your head slightly tilted to one side, and allow the saline solution to flow from one side of your nose to the other.  Repeat on the other side.  This process will clear your sinuses, allowing you to breath more freely.

If you have a sore throat, try gargling with warm salt water.  Salt is one of the most common household item, which will keep you from having to go to the drug store for those nasty cough drops that do not really help your problem at all.  If you are still having trouble with your sore throat or your breathing, then try drinking something hot, such as chicken broth, or hot tea.  Not only will this help your congestion, but it will help you to stay hydrated, which is crucial to your recovery!

Herbal teas have also been known as a natural flu and cold treatment to help clear up that cold or flu and will help to get you back on your feet.  Try to look for an herbal tea that has a soothing ingredient to it, such as a mint.  The mint in the tea will act as a cooling factor, which will soothe that scratchy throat, and will help to clear up those sinuses.

Some time honored natural flu and cold treatments include how to stay healthy.  Staying healthy is important, and taking the time to take care of ourselves when we are sick is also very important.  When you come down with that cold or flu, take a day off and take the time to sleep and take care of yourself.  Getting plenty of rest is going to be vital to your recovery.  Make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids, and staying as hydrated as you possibly can.  Being sick can be no fun, but in order for us to stop the sickness we need to know what to do.  If you use these simple tips to help you get better, you will be back on your feet in no time!
