Wind power is the term we use to define the conversion of wind energy into a form of energy that we can use.  An example of this would be the use of large turbines that are turned by the wind to produce electricity.  You will also find wind mills that produce mechanical power and wind pumps that are used to pump out drainage.  Wind power is a clean and renewable energy resource that is finally beginning to see some use.  This natural means to producing electricity is the dawn of a new era on how we fuel our homes.

Many people have started putting these on very large scale wind farms that are all hooked up to a transmission network.  In some cases, you will even see small wind farm locations that only power a few locations.  Another great advantage to wind power is the ability the owner has to allow his energy tanks to get full.  After they are full, you can then sell your surplus energy back to the electric company.  This energy resource will not run out someday like fossil fuels will and it is less harmful to the environment.  For home wind power, you can purchase a small wind turbine to connect your house up to.  These are now growing in their popularity.

Our government is also trying to promote clean renewable energy sources like wind power.  In fact, they have taken many steps to bring more and more wind farm activity in this country along with other renewable energy resources.  Many wind farms are going up all over the country and only a few are raising opposition to these new constructions.  Nevertheless, it is fast becoming a very reliable way to receive and generate energy from a natural source.  In many aspects, wind power is just overall very practical.

There is a wind farm project going on in the area of Cape Cod.  The end result that they wish to achieve is to supply the 225,000 Cape Cod residents with power.  However some opposition has arisen amongst the Native American people living there.  They are outraged at the fact of where these turbines will be put and say that it is destroying their land.  The entire project that Cape Cod will be under going will be well over $2 billion dollars.  This project was even approved by the President of the United States government and 130 wind turbines are planned to go in.

Wind power could well be the major supplier of our energy in the near future.  This is because it has so many advantages over all other forms of harvesting energy and it does not hurt the environment.  Wind power not only helps the environment, it helps reduce your energy costs all together.
